On 5th September we have our very own SN CARNIVAL, the Singapore pasar malam style having both game and food stores. Our main aim of the CARNIVAL is to get the elderlies and beneficiaries moving their limbs, at the same time to bring back memories of the past.
We created most stalls very traditionally. For one of the food stalls we have it named, NANYANG drinks stall and they served those glass bottled drinks just like in the 60s. For the games we have a bowling stall created like the “goli” (marbles) concept, where by the elderlies have 3 tries to throw the ball to the cans placed on the ground has to fall. Many elderlies love that game and they kept coming back for more. We have the TIKAM stall which is very reminiscing for the old folks where after they earn the points from the game stall, they get to choose a number and win a prize. We also set up a photo booth stall to take let the elderlies take photo with the mascots and take the polaroid back home for memories.
All the elderlies enjoyed themselves, they came in empty handed and went home with lots of prizes, balloon sculpturing, food and many happy memories. This couldn’t be done without the teamwork of the volunteers. We made another wonderful memory and I believe there are much more to come. Thank you to all volunteers that planned and participate in the event.
One Heart, One SN. Hooyah!
