These photos took by Candice and i uploaded on her behalf. Embedded slide with a video music also...so that you don't feel bore while seeing those photos... :)
On the 10th of May about 15 SN volunteers attended the First Aid Awareness Programme organised by Red Cross to mark World Red Cross Day. We agreed to meet at Clark Quay Mrt station at 9.45 before making our way to Central Mall.
Wah the venue was big and little did I know that red cross was located at a corner inside the mall.
Our session started off with some sharing by the speaker on... what was it? is it bandage? can't remember. but yeah we did learn how to bandage our head, arms and legs in the case of fracture and open wound. gosh i was wrapped up as a guinea pig by the group (although i volunteered). haha. well our group facilitators are ever willing to share their knowledge and we are glad to have them... except Joel? haha... don't ask me why... ask him!
can't remember what was mentioned during the talk... its the usual stuff about poisoning, bites and burns etc. its the hands-on that leave the deepest memory. lunch seems a long way off... so we actually had about two to three hours of break in between waiting for it to start since we ended our session early.
finally lunch came... was a simple fare of veges, meat and rice. hey hey! wat do you expect... its free ok! haha yep after lunch was lecture again... then before i knew it... zzz monster came looking for me and a few others. wat to do, lecture after lunch is always like tat. and BEN was the first one to feel sleepy. sat beside me and kept saying he was sleepy, in the end i fell asleep. haha. after that... woo lah! time for the most exciting event... CPR!
so there we were... practicing our skills on the dummy. gee... was not easy. everyone took turns to try and finally we manage to 'master' it. haha. but hey, don't think we dare do it on a real person. heard from the instructor that its best if we not do it in real life if we lack the confidence. furthermore, we aren't protected if anything goes wrong. so best is get license through the proper first aid certified course. nonetheless, its still worth the session becoz who knows? if there is someone we actually know that u see needs CPR, chances are we won't sit back and do nothing.
So its still a skill worth learning in times of crisis. well, that was the final session for the programme... and yep... we were among the last to leave. shows how enthusiastic we were! tats all folks, juz some informal sharing~
